If he had taken the deal, he would have only gotten five years in prison for the crime, half the sentence he is facing now if a guilty verdict is brought down on him.

Wow. He better have a real sound defense against these charges. Otherwise, those beautiful girls of his are going to grow up without him -- and that would be really sad.

After a day of work and recuperation, Sarah opened her beautiful home to a bunch of our friends last night for a big get together/party. It had been a long time since the bunch of us got together to hang out and catch up with one another so we really made the most of the time we had together. Altho not everyone could come out last night, we managed to pull together a pretty full house of dear friends. I’m usually really good about taking a bunch of cameraphone photos at parties like this but I was honestly preoccupied with hanging out with every one. Princess Zakiya was an absolute doll, as was my good friend Sherri’s youngest son Daniel … who decided to bless us with his rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody:

Daniel was a bit shy but his older brother Kyle was there to help him sing his song. It was the cutest thing ever! At some point around 1AM the board games came out and, well, it was a RAUCOUS night of hard partying! Actually, notsomuch … but we all did have a great time just hanging out and having fun together … just like the good ol’ days. It is always so nice being home … getting infusions of love like this every once in a while does much to enrich my life :)

Today will be a short day for me here in Detroit. I’m hanging out with my parents this afternoon and then I’m jetting back to LA this evening. I’ll be comin’ atcha again from the West Coast tomorrow. I hope YOU all are having a fantastic weekend! Happy Sunday!!

Dr. Conrad Murray, who was sentenced to fours in prison in November for the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson, has filed legal documents to appeal his conviction, on the basis of "improper exclusion of defense evidence and witnesses that resulted in violating the defendant's State and constitutional rights to due process, to present a defense and to the effective assistance of counsel," and is even requesting that pending the ruling, he be released from jail!

Oh, but don't worry! He's willing to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet!

How flexible of him!

Yeesh! If he wants to appeal, that's his prerogative, but we think he should stay right where he is!

Man On A Ledge, One For The Money, and The Grey are having a threeway tango for the number one spot at the Box Office this weekend, but anaylists are predicting that Liam Neeson's wilderness thriller is going to make the most money.

The Sam Worthington flick is estimated to rake in 9.8 million this weekend, Katherine Heigl's romantic comedy might make $5 million, but The Grey is on track to make $12 million.

Today I have to send out HUGE Birthday Lurve to my beautiful home State of Michigan because today is it’s 175th birthday. Michigan became the 26th State back in 1837 after a silly skirmish with Ohio over land rights and today is celebrating it’s Dodransbicentennial. Cool, eh? Honestly, I had no idea that January 26 was Michigan‘s birthday despite my overachievement in Michigan Studies back in grade school. Nonetheless, I am very happy that I am able to BE in Michigan for the big day :D

Lessee … if memory serves from my Michigan Studies class … the State stone is the Petoskey stone … the State bird is the Robin and the State motto is “If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you” (the State is made up of a lower peninsula that looks like a mitten and an upper peninsula that looks like a rabbit jumping over the mitten). Other thrilling facts: Michigan is known as The Wolverine State, the State flower is the Apple Blossom and Michigan is home to the 5 Great Lakes — Superior, Michigan, Ontario, Huron and Eerie (collectively, they make up the highest concentration of fresh water in the world). Um, I could go on and on but you get the gist … Michigan is a pretty freakin’ cool place. I hope you’ll join me in sending 175 years worth of Birthday Lurve to Michigan today!

Last night, Sarah, Mark, David and I took my parents out for dinner at Andiamo’s in Dearborn, MI to celebrate my Dad’s birthday. While he’s not quite as old as Michigan itself … he’s gettin’ up there:

Both of my parent’s were really surprised when I showed up on their doorstep. My mom claims I almost gave her a heart attack … WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS GOING FOR! Actually, no, I didn’t want to scare them … but I am glad that they were both surprised. I bundled them up in the car and took them to our impromptu dinner party. We had a great night together.

Sadly, David had to fly back to LA today to take care of some biz so I’ll be here in Detroit for the rest of the week solo … as much as I’ll miss David, I will get some extra alonetime with my BFF Sarah. We’re planning on seeing The Artist tonight so … it should be fun.

Soon after polls closed on Saturday, Newt was declared the winner with Mittens tailing in second place and Santorum and Paul falling far behind.

In Newt's victory speech, he told his minions the crowd:

"Thank you to everyone in South Carolina who decided to be with us in changing Washington. We are optimists about the future.

President Obama is a president so weak that he makes Jimmy Carter look strong."

And gurlfriend is looking good!

Jordin described her experience with working with her idol:

I sang her songs into a hairbrush when I was little. Now she's acting as my mom and scolding me. It was a dream come true."

The movie is a remake of the 1976 film about a group of singing sisters.

Whitney herself expressed her excitement on working on the period piece:

"Part of the fun of making this movie is definitely the costumes and the hairstyles. The movie is set in 1963, and we had a great wardrobe, hair and makeup person and I loved wearing the outfits."

And they suit her well. We're so glad she's looking healthy and is doing what she does best. So, so, SO hoping we get to hear her sing in the film.

Wow, we can't believe it's been 15 years since we last saw one of our favorite divas on the big screen. It's about time she makes her comeback!

Oooh poor Katy – not only is she dealing with the loss of the relationship and recently filed divorce papers but now this… obviously it isn’t confirmed that it is definitely going to be published but the news going around today is that Russell is planning on writing and releasing this memoir, and no doubt if this memoir does eventuate, it will have a lot of info in it about his marriage to Katy.

“Katy is insulted and feels betrayed that Russell has treated her so poorly,” a pal to the “Firework” singer, 27, tells Us. “She will never forgive him…He’s being so atrocious that she feels like she never knew him.”

Oh this is sad, I admit that I can be a bit gullible when it comes to love… but seeing an ex attack, like this, just seems to be so futile and malicious. In this case Russell may have been planning on publishing a memoir for a while now, and we could give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he will include stuff in it about Katy (it would be weird if he didn’t) but it doesn’t have to be hurtful and include all the minute details of why the marriage didn’t work out.. we will have to wait and see if the rumor of a memoir actually comes into fruition. It will make for some interesting reading if it does…

2012 will be a BIG year for Ryan Seacrest!

On top of his busy schedule that includes American Idol, hosting a radio show, and producing numerous reality hits for E!, the multi-hyphenate is creating his own television network!

Seacrest is partnering with Mark Cuban to rebrand the already existing HDNET as AXS TV (in case you were wondering, it's pronounced "access").

Sources say the channel will start broadcasting under the new name in the summer and will feature mostly live lifestyle and live entertainment fare geared toward pop culture and entertainment enthusiasts . Thanks to investing partners like AEG and talent agency CAA, they've got lots of connections to utilize.

You won't be seeing Seacrest's face on any programming, but he will be creating content, as he told sources a while back:

“[AXS TV] will not be the Ryan Seacrest channel… it will not be branded with my name or my face. My role would be to hope to provide content for them, but primarily it would be an ownership role.”

"I had a good year so I would want to go back for a third season, but they haven't asked me yet, so I wonder what's going on with that. I guess they decided who they want and I guess they are going to start casting, looking for new housewives. They told me they were going to start looking so it wasn't behind my back. They were like, 'Sorry we are doing a big casting call.' I was like, 'Thanks.'"

The fabulous Betty White will celebrate her 90th birthday next Tuesday January 17 but on Monday the 16th, NBC will pay homage to the enduring Golden Girl with a TV special called Betty White’s 90th Birthday: A Tribute to America’s Golden Girl. This birthday special will feature a host of celebrity stars that will share their Birthday Lurve for our dear Betty. Additionally, the Betty Crocker company is also celebrating their 90th birthday this year … and they graciously provided a massively festive birthday cake for Betty White‘s NBC birthday celebration. From one legend to another, Betty Crocker has created a show-stopping birthday cake for Betty White’s 90th birthday special, which airs Monday, January 16 (8-9:30 p.m. ET) on NBC. Betty Crocker will present Betty White with a vibrant Triple Chocolate Celebration Cake inspired by the legendary star. Betty Crocker will also provide each celebrity guest of the NBC special with one of several hundred individual cakes that replicate the look of the Celebration Cake’s top tier. Both Betty Crocker and Betty White are celebrating their ninetieth year as American icons. “Betty White is one of the most popular actresses of our time, and Betty Crocker is honored to create this one-of-a-kind birthday cake for her,” said Kristen Olson, food editor with Betty Crocker. “This cake is our gift to Betty White in celebration of her ninety amazing years, and we think this vibrant cake really reflects her personality and the many things we love about her.” The three-tiered Triple Chocolate Celebration Cake, flown by private plane from Betty Crocker’s Minneapolis home to Los Angeles for Betty White’s birthday, is a decadent chocolate cake layered with sumptuous chocolate mousse and rich chocolate ganache. Marrying classic and modern elements, the red, orange and magenta cake is decorated with dozens of fondant roses, shimmery edible pearls and golden candles – and hidden among the roses – a small replica of Betty’s beloved dog Pontiac.
